Inspect Webbing
We've noticed that all our webbing from last year has been thoroughly
chewed on by critters. This is occuring in a variety of canyons in a
broad geographic range, not just in one canyon. Some of the webbing
looked good from the front where the rapide is, but upon inspecting the
complete length of webbing (backside of tree, underneath boulder, etc.)
there was always some degree of chewing. Some were chewed down to just
10% remaining fibers, usually at or close to the knot where your hands
touch the webbing while tying. I don't know if it took the little guys
a year to do this, or if they chewed it quickly for just a short period
of time. Bottom line is don't trust any webbing before you thoroughly
inspect all of it.
