There are a lot of great helmets out there. Most these days have ventilation holes. I don't think you'll find these holes to be a problem in waterfalls at all.
Try a bunch on at a climbing shop and pick the one that fits your head and budget the best. My personal preference is the Petzl Elios. Light, comfy and fits me well.
