Ratings System Discussion

Some might be interested in this discussion on the canyons egroup.
It talks about using the French canyon rating system for US canyons,
with emphasis on canyons with water flow (like the PNW):

Recently I found a copy of a canyon ratings system developed by the
French. Since the topic of improving or changing the ACA system
comes up periodically, I figured some people might be interested to
see how folks across the pond rate their canyon routes. With
judicious help from babelfish and a whole lot of creativity I came up
with an English version here:

I'm curious what people think about it. Personally I think it is
much better than the ACA system for canyons that have flowing water -
which makes sense, considering flowing water canyons is the name of
the game in France. It can be very helpful for folks exploring in
Colorado or the Pacific Northwest. I think with a few minor tweaks
it can be adapted for Colorado Plateau canyoneering as well.

I would replace the exposure/length variable with the Grade portion
of the ACA system however.

Thoughts?
