2008 PNW Canyoning

Robert Cobb Aug 30, 2008 05:00 PM

Just finished up two weeks of canyoning here in the Northwest.
Weather was "less than ideal" for the last week.
Many thanks to everyone for their patience dealing with one of the
wettest August for awhile.
Here is a rundown of the canyons done and their condition.

Eagle creek
-Canyon was in great shape with slightly higher than normal water
volumes. Replaced webbing at last drop.

Summit creek
- Canyon was in grat shape with higher than normal water volumes.
Bolts were added at first drop on CR. Original bolt on CL has been
damaged.
Bolts were also added at the big drop on CR. These bolts look to be
placed in a difficult to reach area.

Unicorn Creek
- Canyon was in terrible condition. The big storms that ripped thru
Rainer, did a lot of damage to this canyon. Many log jams, and wood
in the canyon.

Davis creek
-Canyon in good condition. No change since the big changes last year.
The road leading to the start is posted with heaps of No
tresspassing signs.

Lake creek canyon
-Canyon in good condition.
Bolt added to first drop on CR.
Bolt added to second drop on CR.
This is a great liitle canyon that everyone seems to like.

Little wenatchee river gorge.
-Canyon in good condition.
A fun swimming canyon.

Upper thorton creek
-We were able to start much higher in Thorton creek than previous.
The results are another half dozen drops and an additional four
hours of fun.

Lower Thorton creek
-Unable to do because of water levels

Gorge creek
-Unable to do because of water levels.
