RE: [PNWCanyoning] Google Earth File

Eric,

I've placed a new mark for the location of Looper Creek, as there is a fair amount of distance between it and Boston Creek. The links are still in the Boston entry, as I have no idea how to change that. Lots of prospects that I was tempted to place, but maybe I'll wait until they're done. High Falls by itself is quite educational!

So, I'm dedicated, come Hell or high water, I'm going to make a trip up
to the Pacific Northwest this summer. As part of my planning, I've
been trying to get a good idea of where canyons are in relationship to
each other. I've put a placemark in Google Earth for most of the
canyons from www.canyoneeringnorthwest.com and added the .kmz file to
the files section. Have a look, correct me on any locations if they
are wrong, and feel free to fill in the few canyons I wasn't motivated
enough to locate (I didn't find any on the Olympic peninsula, as I
don't think I'll make it up there this trip). Planning on sometime in
August, at least a week, hopefully longer.

Eric.

I loaded the .kmz file from the files section and all I saw was two
markers in the same spot for Boston and Looper? The way I move
placemarks and change the link are, right click on the placemark then
left click on properties. It will bring up a window with info on the
placemark, you can change the http link and as long as the properties
window is up you can drag and drop the placemark to a new location.

Post the prospects, post whatever you want, would be cool to see
where they are located. It is probably much easier for you since you
already know where they are. Some of those canyons were easy to
locate using topozone.com and then matching to Google Earth, but
others I had to try and follow the road directions, and that was a
major pain.

P.S. For any anti-googlers, you can also open the file in Nasa's World
Wind, but I don't know if you can make changes to it. World Wind has
higher detailed satellite images in areas of crappy detail in GE, but
images are black and white. World Wind also overlays topo maps. These
are only available over the US though, so all the Canada stuff is just
as blurry as GE.
