What's on for summer 09?
Well, summer is sneaking up and prodding me in the arse again, and I'm kinda wondering what the plans are for the few of us that look in on this list. At this point, all the "undones" east of Vancouver are short, tawdry little things and Ive had a rather misspent winter not pushing the bigger targets to doable status (aside from the perennial occupant-High Falls Creek). So, basically, the summer plan right now consists of one target: the "hard sell" of Main Artlish on northern Vancouver Island. Since I'm guessing that not many here are interested in the ferry crossing+7 hour drive to do what may be the "Best Canyon Ever" (or maybe not...), this leaves a pretty sparse season that may only have repeats on the Lost/Terepocki pair, Norrish and maybe some short stuff out in the Chehalis. The questions are, for anyone listening:
-is anyone interested in the full weekend that would be required to do Artlish and maybe a quick first descent on the Conuma River (both are remote)?
-any other big plans coming together, or any major projects?
-Charly-if you're looking in, I remember a comment on the possibility of running the Rescue course up here at some point. A possibility?
-is anyone considering Reunion for the fall this year?
Thoughts? Ideas? Chris, just shut up?? Anyone?

I just burned up a few weeks of vacation in the Oregon high desert. That
area is really growing on me. I think there's enough lonely canyons out
there to keep canyon lovers busy for a long time to come...
I posted some pics here for anyone who care to take a gander:

In the meantime...I'
the eastern flanks of the Olympics. I sill plan to hit Ken's find of LeBar
creek (Ken, ping me if you want to head out there sometime)...
hiking around to see what else can be found.

Ram, I'm woefully behind catching up on email, but I think you were on my last distribution announcing the end of my sabbatical and return to work in Longmont and living in Boulder. Just shouting out to let you know I'm in the area. Life seems to be busy as always though with local adventure, a new relationship, and *gasp* work. Work takes up way more time than I seem to remember. Ram, I'm actually living in Boulder, but the difference is the same. My new job is in support of satellite operations and rotates through a hard-to-follow 24-7 rotation, but it does afford some good mid week time here and there. My July is unfortunately packed, mostly with work, but the reward for that comes in August with some more free time. Enjoy your PNW trip. Say hi to Rob if you see him. Let's keep in touch. Give a shout when you're back with at least some info on what you were up to with your son Aaron! best, Ira On Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 5:04 PM, <adkramoo@aol.com> wrote: > A Longmont man you are? Great.
