Multnomah Falls rappel

mike_dallin Apr 29, 2008 04:02 AM

I noticed a few shots of people rappelling Multnomah Falls appeared on
flickr's canyoning photo group. It looks like it was part of a public
demonstration put on by Portland Mountain Rescue. It's quite a treat
since, if I'm not mistaken, Multnomah Falls is normally off limits to
canyoners:

I'm not sure if the photographer reads this egroup, but if so, kudos -
the photos are great!

For anyone interested, the canyoning photo group is at:

Update for www.canyoneeringnorthwest.com
We have added new photos for Jump Creek Canyon in
Idaho.
Does any one have ideas for new northwest canyons this
summer?

Ken-lots of prospects. Terepocki Creek near Mission needs to be finished. I've scoped out a couple of new trips near Harrison Lake (Weaver Creek and Bear Creek), and there is another monster descent waiting on Slollicum Creek nearby (can't remember the name of the falls, but they're on Swan's website and drop close to 700m in total, with good access). Several prospects on the island need work, including two in the south that are sorta in the same area as Looper. I'm planning on having a look at Braden Creek in a couple of weeks, and if time allows will look in on Granite Creek in the same area. Both have very alluring descriptions on the steep creeker site. There is also MFA up on the northern part of the island-absolutely has to be done this summer, although I shudder to think what my bank account is going to look like afterwards!

Now the main trick is fitting this, and trips on your side of the border, into our somewhat narrower season this year.
