Silver/Summit Creek Access?

Charly Oliver Aug 24, 2007 01:17 PM

Checked road conditions on the WDOT website this morning.

LOW IMPACT
US 2 - No overloads on US 2 in both directions from INDEX-GALENA RD
to EAGLE FALLS CREEK since 12:00 AM, 05/01/07 until further notice
>From milepost 35 to milepost 39
Report Detail
Permanent Restriction: No oversized loads are allowed (both
directions of U.S. 2) at milepost 36.6, east of Index.

So it appears you can get into Silver Creek from Index again. Just no
oversized loads -keep that pack light ;-)

and:

MODERATE IMPACT
SR 123 - State Route 123 Cayuse Pass remains closed due to road
damage that occurred late last fall and additional damage that
occurred through the winter. Due to the work needed to repair this
damage opening SR 123 Cayuse Pass will be delayed and may not occur
this summer. Those desiring to access the National Park can do so by
accessing the South end of SR 123 from US 12.

Looks like access to Summit Creek from the south is fine (confirmed
by Eric Kirmeyer). We were stopped in July trying to get in from the
north but Eric and friends were able to come in from the south.

Anybody been in to either of these canyons lately? Got any details on
road conditions? Summit Creek campground?
