Canyoneering this summer in canada for 2 french
Hi everyone,
We are a couple coming from france for a year in Canada. We are in Calgary for few months, anbd this summer we would like to travel accross the Canada, and of course we would like do some canyon.
We practice Canyoneering in France and Europe since 4 years, with at least 40 canyons a year.
Unfortunatly, we can't find information about canyoneering in Rocky moutain, especially in Banff National park, the closest moutains for us.
If someone on this group has information about canyon, near Calgary, i will enjoy to discuss with him.
Moreover, we are looking for a club or group, who are going to practice canyoneering in Canada or USA this summer to join them. you can contact us by email.
Sorry for my bad English, we are here in Canada to improve it.
See you
Tom and Nat
Nobody, can give me an answer?
Here in Canada you don't have a canyoneering club?
Tom

Hi Tom,
Sorry about the lack of reply to the earlier question. I am presently trying to figure out what I am doing over the summer, which might help with your trip. There aren't really any canyoning "clubs" in Canada, only scattered individuals and small groups that follow this activity. There is a group in Quebec that has a canyoning business-they are quite active, and also cover several Caribbean islands. A number of people associated with the Jasper-Hinton Alpine Club of Canada chapter are also fairly active. There are also a few of us in southwestern British Columbia that are also active. I suspect that the one of most interest to you would be the ACC Jasper-Hinton group, as Jasper is located a few hours drive north of Banff. Greg Horne was, I believe, the main individual associated with the canyoning trips in the region (I think you should be able to find his contact information through the ACA website-canyoneerin
For the Pacific Northwest group, I'm fairly active, normally, but presently do not know if I will be available during the summer season. There are also a number of people on this forum that are very active in Washington, Oregon and Utah. I'll leave it up to them to speak up and help you organize something if you plan on heading south into the United States.
I will also recommend that you have a look at Ken Leibert's site: www.canyoneeringnor
